Choose a still image, set the palette and detail, then create the SVG. Compare the traced result with the original before downloading. Open the SVG in an editor that supports vector paths to adjust its shapes and colors.
Best for graphics with distinct edges
Automatic tracing approximates the original. Flat artwork, icons and clean logos generally work better than photographs, gradients or small text. Large originals are reduced for tracing; more colors do not guarantee a better or smaller result. Text becomes shapes rather than editable font characters.
Does it use AI or upload my image?
No. ImageTracer.js traces color boundaries locally in a Web Worker. There is no remote API or model, and your source image is not uploaded.
Will it preserve transparency and every fine detail?
Transparent areas can be placed on white, or traced with the color palette when you disable that option. Color and opacity are approximated. Grayscale and black-and-white use opaque palettes. Small details may be discarded, and complex photos can become large groups of paths. Keep your original.
Why does the tracing grid differ from my image size?
The tool limits tracing to one million pixels to keep processing and memory bounded. Simple, balanced and fine settings also limit the longest tracing edge. The resulting SVG scales freely, but detail lost before tracing cannot be restored.
