A little clarity.
Does my image leave my device?
No. Text recognition runs in your browser. This tool does not upload your image or recognized text. On first use, your browser downloads the recognition engine and language files from Bell River and caches them when possible.
Which languages and images work?
Russian, English, or both together. Use a JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 30 MB and 50 megapixels. Large images are resized to at most 3,200 pixels on the longest side and 8 megapixels for browser processing. Convert HEIC photos with our HEIC to JPEG tool first.
How can I get a better result?
Use sharp, well-lit images with upright, printed text. Crop unnecessary background before choosing the image. Tiny letters, blur, handwriting, curved pages, and complex layouts can reduce accuracy. Review names, numbers, and punctuation before using the result.
Will it keep document formatting?
The result is editable plain text. Line breaks are kept where the recognizer finds them, but fonts, tables, columns, and page layouts are not preserved. TXT downloads use UTF-8 so Russian characters remain readable.
Why does recognition take a while?
The first run downloads and prepares the recognition files. Later runs can reuse cached files. Processing time depends on your device and image size. If it takes too long, cancel and try a smaller, clearer image. The tool processes one image at a time.
